Why you love Christmas??

The start of the Christmas activities has begun for us
Last week, our church held a gingerbread house decorating night. Can you picture this  - a room full of women, all ready to create some fantastic creation to share with family and friends. Let me tell you there was lots of chatting and eating with royal icing flying everywhere.

Whilst a big proportion of the time was dedicated to the creating, we also had a speaker who shared with us as to why they loved Christmas.
For her it's about the tinsel, presents, food, family, gingerbread but most of all it was it was the carols.

Her favorite was Hark the Herald Angels sing. She went on to explain why - it was all about the words.  The very reason for Christmas is so clearly explained in the carol - man to be reconciled to God because of the birth of Christ.

You know how there are some songs that you know by heart and can recite it effortlessly, but often we know the words yet don't really understand what the song actually means.

Well in case you don't know the carol  - the first verse goes like this..

Hark! the herald angels sing,
 "Glory to the new born King,
 peace on earth, and mercy mild,
 God and sinners reconciled!"
 Joyful, all ye nations rise,
 join the triumph of the skies;
 with th' angelic host proclaim,
 "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
 Hark! the herald angels sing,
 "Glory to the new born King!"

I hold a view like the speaker's, I love Christmas because it celebrates the birth of God come to life - the beginning of God's plan for mankind. Don't get me wrong I love all the other things, like carols, presents, family, but most of all knowing that God's plan comes to life in Christ - the hope for humanity.

Why do you love Christmas??
